It was erected a little while before the 2010 World Cup Football tournament kicked off in South Africa. They said it would only be in Cape Town until the end of 2010. It's still here, and it's awesome.
I guess the fact that it's stayed means that the V&A Waterfront, and the wheel's owners are making a packet of money from the attraction.

It’s been great for photographers; wonder how many photos have been taken of it? It was particularly good for nighttime shots in the original location. Here’s one I took.

Post authorYeah, prolly plenty Steve. I wonder what advertising rights cost… I’m just thinking of all the tourists shooting pics and taking home Hisense, and other, ads to their friends and family, posting them to FB, etc.
